COVID-19 Update

Dear all of our valued patients,

Our patients' and teams' care, health and safety is of the utmost importance to us. Due to the ever evolving information that we are gathering about the Coronavirus, we have decided to take a number of steps to further ensure the health and well-being of everyone that walks into our clinic.

The clinic will continue to be open and operate normally for face to face appointments however, the following processes and procedures have been implemented:

  • We ask that everyone who comes to the clinic uses the hand sanitiser provided on the reception desk upon entering the clinic and leaving the clinic
  • Handshakes are discouraged, but you are welcome to foot tap if you like
  • Appointments will be spaced out to allow extra time for hand sanitisation, cleaning of our rooms and equipment between patients
  • We aim to put all exercise programs online through the app "Physitrack" to allow ease of access with exercises at home
  • We are currently working on getting a Telehealth service over the next few weeks to allow continuity of care if forced closures are enforced. Medicare and private health insurance has not indicated that they allow for physiotherapy services to be billed this way, hence treatment costs cannot be claimed. We would work towards an appropriate fee structure to support this model of care.
  • All our classes have now moved to online classes via Zoom.  Participants already booked into classes will be contacted with more information on logging into their exercise classes remotely.  Our class timetable will soon be updated.  Please feel free to Contact Us if you have any questions about classes.

We please ask that you reschedule your appointment if:

  • You have any symptoms of the cold
  • You have had contact with anyone who is being tested for COVID-19 or has COVID-19
  • If you have recently returned from overseas travel in the last 14 days
  • Our usual cancellation fees will be waived for these circumstances only, however we would appreciate it if you could give us as much notice as possible.

For more information on the social responsibility that we have as a community to help reduce the spread please refer to:

Telehealth Update

Telehealth consultations are available to patients who are unwell, have compromised immunity or unable to attend their usual consultation in clinic.

They are an alternative to face to face consultations and are available for both initial and follow ups, including our pelvic floor and continence consultations, musculoskeletal consultations and abdominal separation consultations.

A telehealth consult will include:

  • A subjective assessment (ie. How you have been feeling and/or progression)
  • An objective assessment (ie. Visualisation of exercises and demonstration of movement patterns by yourself)
  • Treatment

Please note: that the treatment offered will be varied, like in clinic, to be specific to your needs and concerns. Examples of treatments that we can offer over telehealth include:

  • Advice regarding appropriate movement patterns
  • Postural education
  • Bladder and bowel habits
  • Use of dilators/therawands
  • Exercise prescription
  • Education on how to tape certain parts of your body

Important: If you are attending a telehealth consultation for an initial pelvic floor assessment, no internal vaginal examination will be performed. However, we will be taking a thorough subjective assessment (determining your signs and symptoms) and then will provide you with as much information as possible to conservatively manage your condition.

Expectations of the patient during a telehealth consult:

We ask that you please book your consult in advance by calling one of our friendly reception staff. Our physiotherapists will continue to work their usual hours.

Please ensure that you are available to answer the call at the time that the booking has been made for. During the consult, we ask that you are:

  • Appropriately dressed
  • Your environment is quiet to ensure that your physiotherapist can best hear you over the line
  • Where possible, if you could arrange babysitting or childcare for your children please do so to limit distraction
  • All recommended equipment is next to you ready to be used during the consult

Please remember that like a consult in clinic, these consults are only for you and family members are not to ask for advice during the consult. If they wish to seek our services, they are more than welcome to book an appointment with us.
